Student Council

Student Council is a group of elected students, of which volunteered for leadership roles within our school community. With the help of a mentor teacher, the student council at Saint Mary of the Hills School does everything in our power to organize donations, drives and other fundraising opportunities, in order to bring in funds and give back to our internal and external school community.

The funds that are raised are used for a variety of things including: repairs to the school, new school equipment, new learning resources, and are also put into scholarship funds for our graduating 8th grade class. Last year, we used some of the funds raised for new soccer nets, new basketball hoops, and T.V.s to replace the Smart Boards in our middle school, for a better learning experience for our students.

Student Council is a great extracurricular activity, since it allows students to learn and participate in the voting process, allows students to feel what it’s like to be in a leadership role, and also allows students to give back to our community in a number of ways.

Some of the past donations and fundraisers that student council have been involved in have included but are not limited to canned goods donated to Catholic Charities in Boston, coats donated to Catie’s Closet in Hyde Park, blankets donated to the Animal Rescue League of Boston, and our annual Spring Raffle, which raised more than $40,000 in 2021!

Student Council is extremely eager and excited to do even more for our school during the 2022-2023 school year!
