As the Principal of a Catholic Elementary School of such rich diversity, I am incredibly saddened by the senseless death of George Floyd. Together, as a community, we must work together to teach our children to "Treat others the way you would want to be treated". That is something that my students are taught to practice every day.
We all need to remember the words of Nelson Mandela: "No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."
It is important to allow people to peacefully protest and I respect that. Everyone's voice deserves to be heard!
May God bless Mr. Floyd and his family and friends.
