Principal's Updates - 9/18/2020
Thank you so much for being so supportive during this unprecedented time. I could not be more happy and proud of how well everyone is adjusting to and adhering to the new safety protocols. It shouldn't surprise you how resilient the children are. It is apparent that you have prepared them well at home. We are not only attending to their academic needs but also their social and emotional needs as well. We have an ongoing partnership with Boston Children's Franciscan Hospital. My teachers and staff received training over the summer and I have attached some important resources for you here. Parents and Guardians can utilize their Telehealth services by using your health insurance.
Next week we will begin assessing all students in Grades 2-8 in Math and Reading using NWEA/MAPS assessments. They will be taking these tests in the computer lab with masks on and sitting more than 3 feet apart. The lab will be disinfected between cohorts. I have attached a link explaining these assessments. We will use the data to determine where the students are academically since the Spring. This along with day to day assessments in the classrooms will help the teachers to support the students and instruct them where they are. Here is a link to explain these assessments. Remote learners will be proctored through ZOOM by Mrs. Hughes.
I have decided to move the Virtual Back to School Night to the week of 9/28 and have broken it down by grade levels. These will be ZOOM events to discuss curriculum and classroom expectations. Keep an eye out for your invitation from your child's teacher.
Many of you have been so generous with your kind words about the work we are doing to support you and your children. This means the world to us. Your children are such precious gifts and deserve the best educational experience we can offer them and we are proud to be a part of this journey we are on together.
God Bless you all and enjoy a wonderful weekend with your incredible children.
Mrs. Julie Marotta
