Principal's Updates - 12/4/2020
We here at St Mary of the Hills are so fortunate to be able to continue to offer in-person learning for all of our students. As I'm sure you know, it isn't easy, but we truly believe that in-person learning is what is best for our young people. The social and emotional toll that remote learning causes, and the lack of academic engagement, may have long term implications. I want to assure you that we are committed to keeping the students and staff safe, but we also understand that there are medical reasons why your child is learning remotely and we respect that.
The teachers, staff, and I are here to help get your child whatever they need to be successful. We are setting expectations high and feel that we are positioning your children for great success compared to some of their peers at other institutions that do not have the capability to do what we have done. I ask that you remember that we are also under a tremendous amount of pressure as we are also living through this pandemic. When things may not seem to be going well in the classroom, I respectfully ask that you start your conversations off by phone or email with positivity. I always suggest treating others the way you want to be treated. After all, this is what we are instilling in all the children. Let your concerns be heard, and partner with the teacher to ensure the best outcome for your child.
On another note, we had a very successful Day of Giving! We surpassed our goal of $30,000 and more is on the way!
God Bless you all and enjoy a wonderful weekend with your incredible children.
Mrs. Julie Marotta
