Principal's Updates - 12/11/2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

So hard to believe that we are ending the 2nd week of Advent! The excitement of Christmas is alive and well here at St Mary of the Hills School. Everyone is busy preparing their hearts for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Each Monday I read a reflection and a scripture passage so that the children can develop more of a spiritual connection. In addition there have been other moments like Elf sightings and shenanigans, card and ornament making, and so much more.

We are so lucky to be able to share these experiences this year. We are even performing the Nativity. It will be a little different this year but it is tradition that we really wanted the young children to experience. Once completed it will be broadcast on our YouTube channel, SMH-TV. More details to follow.

Thank you for donating to our Student Council Food and Sock Drive. The Food will be going to Catholic Charities and the socks to the Shattuck Shelter. Giving to those less fortunate is what we believe in and instill in our students.

In case I missed seeing any of you today, your children will tell you that Mrs. Marotta had purple hair. It's true! The 4th graders didn't think we could meet our Day of Giving goal of $30,000. I told them I would dye my hair purple if we did! I am a woman of my word! Interestingly enough many students think I should keep it this color. My husband said I looked like an Easter Egg so I guess that won't happen. He may get coal in his stocking!

God Bless you all and enjoy a wonderful weekend with your incredible children.

Mrs. Julie Marotta
