Dear St. Mary of the Hills Families,
We hope you are all doing well and are enjoying this beautiful weather. We thank you for your continued support during these challenging times. We are grateful for the teachers and staff of St Mary of the Hills School who continue to remotely teach during these last couple of weeks of school. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers in these times of uncertainty.
We are excited to update you on some of the positive developments at St Mary of the Hills School as we plan for the 2020-21 Academic Year. We are working daily to ensure that your children return to a safe and healthy environment and that our school building is prepared for your children to return. We are following all of the guidelines and requirements as we continue to live with COVID-19. We have increased our cleaning and disinfecting of the school daily and weekly. In addition, we will be contracting with a cleaning company to perform a deep cleaning of all surfaces in every room in the school. All procedures adhere to CDC regulations. Your children's safety and health is our priority.
We are planning to start the Academic year on September 1st. Specifics will be shared with you as soon as we have more guidance from our education partners. We are excited about the strong enrollment for next year. Our teachers and staff, are looking forward to returning in September and welcoming your child to our school.
We are currently in the process of hiring a Director of Advancement and Admission. The person who fills this role will help me to optimize enrollment to secure long-term sustainability and growth and to increase revenue in support of our mission. This position is a result of the partnership with the Healey Foundation. I also have access to a Capacity Grant from the Catholic Schools Foundation to be used for recruitment.
We wanted to make this last week memorable for our 8th graders. Some faculty and staff members and I drove to their homes to surprise them and celebrate them in person. Last night we held a Virtual Class Night where we awarded academic pins, and watched video tributes of their lives at St Mary of the Hills through the years. We congratulate them as they move on from St Mary of the Hills School. All of our 8th graders were accepted to exceptional schools. We are so proud of them. We will be holding an in person graduation ceremony on August 12th. Social distancing guidelines will be adhered to. Congratulations to our Grade 8 students! We wish you many blessings and success as you move on!
Thank you for your continued support, kindness and patience in these unusual times. We look forward to that day when we can all come together and celebrate what St Mary of the Hills School is all about; Excellence in Education, Spiritual Growth, Personal Academic Achievement, and Social Development in a safe and nurturing environment. We will continue to update you with our reopening plans and procedures.
God Bless all of you and stay safe! I continue to keep all of you in my prayers each day.
Mrs. Julie Marotta
