Principal's Updates - 3/27/2020
Dear St. Mary of the Hills Families,
Thank you for all of the kinds words of support and encouragement during this very difficult week. It means so much to know how much you value my staff and all of their recent efforts to transfer their craft to an online platform. This has required tremendous patience and adjustments on your part. Learning this new way of teaching has not always been easy but the teachers rose to the occasion and learned all of this during such a stressful time. Many have spouses who have been laid off, some are caring for their own young children and grandchildren, others are dealing with the struggles of caring for an elderly parent. Not once did any of them complain and say they could not do this. They love your children and want them to get the best possible educational experience. This means putting in so much more time developing, planning, reaching out through videos, phone calls and emails.
It is critical to continue to make payments towards your tuition. Without that revenue stream we will not be able to meet our financial obligations. If you are struggling due to a layoff or effects of COVID-19 please reach out to Mrs. Powell, our Business Manager. Her email address is firstname.lastname@example.org. There is limited financial support available through the Catholic Schools Foundation. They are looking at supporting families on a case by case basis.
Every morning and afternoon I record prayer for the students. I believe that this is an important part of their daily life at St. Mary's that I want to ensure they can still experience. Please help them with that. Your children are feeling a tremendous amount of stress right now. Offer them opportunities to express that and teach them ways of coping. They could draw, listen to music, explore outside, meditate, and pray. Please take time to read the document I sent from Mrs. Debarros called Thriving at Home.
If you or your children need anything like electronic devices, textbooks, meals, etc. please reach out to me. I live 1 mile from the school and would be happy to lend you anything you need to make this situation better.
Mrs. Julie Marotta
