Dear St. Mary of the Hills Families,
A week ago today no one could have ever imagined that we would be academically and emotionally supporting our students and families virtually. I cannot possibly express to you how proud I am of my incredible staff. They have risen to the challenge and learned very quickly how to navigate this world of online learning. I hope that you all feel the love and support each and every day.
Please know that the work your children are being asked to do should not add any additional stress to your lives or theirs. It you are experiencing any difficulties please reach out to your child's teacher. They will also be reaching out to you. I would recommend keeping your day as scheduled as you can as students need and want routine. This includes time to go outside, read a book, help around the house, play a game, etc. The emotional well being of our students is our greatest concern.
The teachers and I video conferenced today and discussed grading and report cards. I want you to know that the Archdiocese of Boston and the DESE are helping us navigate that issue. We are not alone. Assessments will look different at every grade level and not the most important thing right now. Please be patient with us as we learn more everyday.
If you are struggling with a lack of resources like technology, please let me know and I can meet you at school to lend you what you need. We are a community of learners but we are also like a second family. This is the time we need to be there for one another.
I will ask you all to pray as much as you can as a family. These are the times that test our faith and with God's help we will persevere.
Mrs. Julie Marotta
