Principal's Updates - 1/24/2020
Dear St. Mary of the Hills Families:
Teachers and students have been hard at work preparing for Academic Night which will be next Thursday at 6 pm. Students will be sharing their research projects on various topics connected to their curriculum. It is also Open House for prospective families. Please help spread the word about our great school. I hope to see many of you there! Families of Middle School CYO basketball players please know that the game at Pope John Paul has been moved to 8 pm and there will be no homework that evening.
Tuesday morning the 5th-8th grade students attended a cyber-bullying presentation from Officer Maria Poles. She is an alum of our school and the School Resource Officer for the Town of Milton. Middle school parents were invited to attend. For those who could not, Mrs. Hughes videotaped the entire presentation. I encourage ALL parents to watch this and become educated about the risks and dangers of social media. This video will be uploaded to our SMH-TV YouTube Channel!
Recently I have received some wonderful emails from parents complimenting some of my faculty members in recognition for their hard work, support, and professionalism. I share these with the teachers and want you to know how much this means to them. As a former teacher these short notes inspired me to keep doing what I was doing and that I was really making a difference. Teaching is a demanding profession as I know many of you know. Please feel free to drop a complimentary email to your child's teacher when you deem it appropriate. I know they'll love it!
On a more serious note, I have received complaints of parents pulling into the driveway and school parking lot at times they should not. Please revisit our rules and regulations that have been sent home many times. You can not pull into the parking lot, OR the driveway, until specified times. This is for the safety of all our students. Thank you for following the safety rules.
Next week is Catholic Schools Week. I know that we may be a little less structured somedays as we celebrate the benefit and privilege of a Catholic education. Please see the calendar of events below so that your child does not miss out on a dress down day or fun opportunity.
Enjoy the weekend with your beautiful children!
