Principal's Updates - 9/6/19
Welcome Back to St Mary of the Hills School! If you are new or a returning family please know that you are now part of a very special community of educators and scholars!
We have so much to be grateful for. Many of you have already stepped up to volunteer your time and talents to help in many ways. Volunteering is proven to improve your lives but also the lives of your children. Elementary and Middle School students enjoy seeing their family members take an interest in their school life and you are being an incredible role model for them. I know with work schedules this may not be possible for everyone. Consider taking your child's birthday off if it falls during the school year. You could help with lunch that day or maybe read a special story to his or her class.
Enrollment is up once again this year. I believe this is because of our focus on delivering rigorous curriculum and always creating the best possible learning environment for your children. Also, I need to recognize your part in helping us spread the word about our great school. Thank you!
We ended the week with a beautiful school mass led by our 8th grade students and their teacher Mrs. Ruggiero. We are so blessed to be able to celebrate together monthly. Then at lunch the students were served pizza by our newly retired teachers, Mrs. Hulme, Mrs. Farrell, and Mrs. Fedewa. What a treat!
I want to end with the following prayer that I used at the Early Childhood/Kindergarten Orientation. No matter what stage in life your child is on his or her educational journey I think we can all agree that letting go is so difficult.
A Mother's 1st Day of School Prayer
I wonder what you're doing now,
And if everyone is treating you kind.
I hope there is a special person,
A nice friend that you can find.
I wonder if the teacher knows
Just how special you are to me.
And if the brightness of your heart
Is something she can see.
I wonder if you are thinking about me,
And if you need a hug.
I already miss the sound of your voice
And how you give my leg a tug.
I wonder if you could possibly understand
How hard it is to let you grow
On this day know that my heart breaks
for this is the first step in letting you go.
Enjoy the weekend with your very special children.
