Principal's Updates - 5/17/19
What a great week we had here at St. Mary of the Hills School. I was so proud of my staff and students for creating such a special event to Celebrate US at our 1st Cultural Appreciation Night. The research projects were so well done and informative, the food was delicious, and the music was incredible. I am so blessed to lead such a vibrant and diverse school. Looking forward to doing this again next year!
Students enjoyed going on field trips this week. These out of the classroom educational experiences are so important to the learning process. Our location makes these experiences very easy to do and for that I am grateful. The 4th and 6th graders went to the Boston Public Library and the Mary Baker Eddy Library where you learned about topography and geography. The 7th and 8th graders utilized their Spanish speaking skills with a trip to a local Mexican restaurant. They ordered in Spanish and conversed with the waitstaff.
Thursday night I had the privilege of welcoming over 40 new families to our community. They are all very excited to either be starting on their educational journey and transferring their children for hopes of a more rigorous education. They look forward to meeting all of you at our Back to School Ice Cream Social in August!
Today was our Fun Run! I cannot thank you enough for your support on this fundraiser. The students had such a great time. (They should sleep very well tonight.) I set a goal to raise $15,000. I promised the students that I would get slimed at Field Day if they could do it. On Thursday we reached over $16,000 in pledges. I was so excited. I then challenged the students that if they could reach $25,000 I would go in the dunk tank on Field Day. I am happy to say that as of this minute the pledges total over $28,000!!! Who knows what next week's total will be. Again, I am blessed!
Please watch the calendar and check your emails for all of the events coming in the next few weeks.
I hope that all of you enjoy a restful weekend and have lots of time making memories with your children!
