Principal's Updates - 5/10/19

May 10, 2019

Dear Families,

NWEA/MAPS testing is complete for students in Grades 2-8. The data will be analyzed in the coming weeks and used to inform instructional practices and interventions for next year. A quick look tells me that students have made substantial growth since the Fall. I am so proud of them and their teachers!

Tuesday we celebrated our dedicated teachers for national Teacher Appreciation Day! Thank you to Mrs. Craft and her team of homeroom parents for making them feel so special and loved! A special thank you to Mrs. Kindell, mother of Tyrone in the early Learners class, for the delicious homemade and decorated cookies. She and Tyrone hand delivered them to everyone on staff! I highly recommend her for your next celebration. CookiesbyJas@yahoo.com.

On Thursday morning the students in the Early Childhood Center, led by Mrs. Fedewa, crowned the Blessed Mother in our Mary Garden. It was such a beautiful morning and the students were so reverent. I was so proud! Thank you to the many parents, grandparents, and other family members who attended.

Thursday night the 4th graders presented their research project at The State's Fair. I am so proud of all of their knowledge and hard work. Special thanks to Miss Cronan, our music teacher, for lending us her State bear collection.

I hope that many of you can attend the Middle School drama production of Lion King, Jr. at Fontbonne Academy on Friday may 10th and Saturday May 11th at 7 pm. The students have been working so hard and are so excited to share their talents with you!

The children are so busy preparing for the Multi-Cultural Night of Monday, May 13th. Please come and see how unique and Special we all are here at St Mary of the Hills. Bring friends and family!! There will be presentations, music, and free raffles for those in attendance.

This week we kicked off the Fun Run at a school wide pep Rally. Please help us to reach our goal of $15,000 to support improvements on campus and programming needs. The run is scheduled for May 17th. Lots of emails will be coming to keep you informed. Your job is to log on to www.funrun.com and register your child! The other major event is a Carnival from

May 31-June 2. I will be reaching out for parent support for both events.

As always I hope that you have a fun weekend filled with family time and moments that you will always treasure.

God Bless,

Mrs. Julie Marotta

Principal
