Happy Veteran's/Grandparent's Day to everyone. This morning was such a great event at our school. We celebrated the value of our Grandparents and our Veterans. The students from age 2.9 through Grade 8 performed, student leaders spoke, a beautiful video tribute was played, and we were honored to have Margaret Connolly, a Boston firefighter and Lt. in the Coast Guard Reserves as our keynote speaker. This has to be one of my favorite days of the entire school year. If you were unable to made it please enjoy the photos that will be posted.
This past Tuesday morning we held an Open House. The families that attended were very impressed with our programming. I need your help in spreading the word about all that St Mary of the Hills has to offer. Tell your friends and neighbors. Write a review on our website or Facebook page. I also have a large amount of brochures that can be placed in doctors or dentist offices, libraries, churches, etc. If you could distribute some please call Ms. Collins at 617-698-2464. She would be happy to get them to you.
This week the students attended a Missionary Presentation. Here they learned how little some children have around the world and to always be grateful for the blessings they have been given. Ask them about the experience. As I circulated the school this week I witnessed so much great learning. Students were engaged, collaborating, analyzing, creating, and enjoying their days.
Next Thursday, November 15th are Parent/Teacher conferences. Please be sure to book a time to conference unless you have already done so. Grade 6-8 report cards were sent home today. Please celebrate your child's achievements and have discussions on ways to make improvements.
PLEASE keep selling your Football Raffle tickets! We have reached our 1st milestone of $10,000. Because of this students may wear their pajamas on Tuesday of next week. Also, every student who sells 10 or more tickets by the drawing date of November 28th can dress down for the entire month of December. Remember all money directly benefits the students at our incredible school. As I always say together we can do such great things!
I hope that you all have a safe and restful long weekend filled with lots of family time. Don't forget to thank a veteran for their service!
Mrs. Julie Marotta
