What a wonderful week! We entered a drawing and writing contest sponsored by the Catholic Schools Office. Students in Grade 1 were asked to draw a picture of themselves showing Jesus as their friend. Grade 2 and 3 students had to either draw a picture or write an essay about what happens when they talk to Jesus. The students in Grades 4 through 8 wrote essays about what they would do if they could spend one day with Jesus. I was overwhelmed with emotion of the student's responses. They were very powerful and shows me that the religious formation of your children is stronger than ever at St Mary of the Hills. I was very proud to hand deliver them this morning to the Superintendent's office.
In the spirit of service I am asking all families to donate non perishable food items that will be donated to the Milton Food Pantry by St Mary of the Hills Faith Formation group. The drive will take place until Friday, November 2nd.
Next week is Halloween. On Wednesday I invite all parents to a coffee with me at 9am. At 9:30 the Early Childhood Center, Grade 1 and 2 will participate in a parade showing off their costumes. I hope that you can make it. Our 8th graders will not be here that day as they are going to the Kennedy Institute to participate in the legislative process.
On Tuesday, November 6th we are having an Open House from 9:30-10:30 so people can come and see our great school in action. I am very proud of what we have here. Please tell any friends or family members to stop in for a tour!
Student Council speeches were presented and elections were held this week. I am proud of all of the students who ran for office and congratulate the following officers for their election:
President ~ Christopher Davis
Vice President ~ Shanti Creese
Treasurer ~ Christina McA'Nulty
Secretary ~ Nyara Sydney
PLEASE Keep selling your Football Raffle tickets! Students are selling at masses this weekend and at Roche Brothers Supermarket. Remember all money directly benefits the students at our incredible school. As I always say together we can do such great things!
I hope that you all have a safe and restful weekend filled with lots of family time.
Mrs. Julie Marotta
