Principal's Update - 9/14/18

September 14, 2018

Dear Families,

Wow! What a wonderful week! The students have really settled into their routines. They are engaged and focused in their classes. I am incredibly grateful to the talented staff, supportive parents, and your amazing children.

With this being the year of SERVICE many staff members have been donating their time, talents, and resources to enhance your child's experience. I know that many of you have seen the great transformation in the hall but there are other things that are not so visible. Teachers updated their classrooms over the summer. They painted, moved furniture, hung whiteboards, and so much more.  Mr. A replaced the broken backboards on the basketball hoops, Mrs. Hughes purchased a 3D printer for the school. I could go on and on. Please know all of this is for the students. They deserve nothing but the best. Our mission is to serve and serve well. Your children are our future and we all believe they are capable of great things.

So far this year students are getting to school on time. This is critical. Prayer and announcements are so important to start off the day. Homeroom is a chance to settle in and get organized for the day. Classes begin at 9:05am. Those minutes of class time are so important. It is a disruption to the flow of instruction when students arrive late. We understand that things happen. Inclement weather, accidents, and traffic can happen. Try to leave a few minutes early each day to avoid the delays.

I am still looking for help with the PTO. Lunch can only happen with parent volunteers. I sent out a signup form a couple of times. Please signup for a few slots. I would greatly appreciate it. I also need a Treasurer. This person enters data into a spreadsheet, helps with deposits, and writes checks for bill payment. If you have any questions please contact me.

I am looking forward to seeing many of you at our Back to School Night on Wednesday, September 19th at 6 pm in the School Hall. This is a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher, visit the classrooms, and hear important information from myself, the PTO, and the school nurse. This is an adult only event but if childcare is a problem we can watch your child in one of the 1st Grade classrooms while you visit. The only exception would be that ECC students will go to the Early Childhood Center with their parents after my speech.

I hope that you all have a safe and restful weekend filled with lots of family time.

God Bless,

Mrs. Julie Marotta
