What an incredible week as we celebrated the joys of Catholic education! The students were celebrated with raffles, shows, extra recess time, pancake breakfasts, and free lunch from the PTO, free ice cream donated by J.P. Licks, afternoon games, dress down days, a spelling bee and more.
It wasn't all fun and games as the students thanked community members for their service to our school community, performed community outreach by donating supplies and preparing sandwiches for the homeless, donating socks to the homeless, cleaned their classrooms, and thanked their parents for the gift of a great education.
Our incredible PTO pulled out all the stops and helped to honor our amazing teachers and staff with a delicious lunch. One of the classrooms was transformed into a fine dining area. Many parents cooked, purchased, and served food as well as supervised the students so the staff could eat together. We have such a great community here and I am honored and humbled by the support this group gives to our entire school. We are blessed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
It was so nice seeing so many of you at Academic Night/Open House. I am so very proud of all of the hard work the students and their teachers showcased. It was so impressive to see how much the children learned about so many interesting people and places. I hope many of you take the Black Heritage Trail in the near future. I know it will be on my list for the summer. Many perspective families came through and were very impressed. Thank you for being so supportive of your children!
The week ended with a beautiful liturgy led by the Student Council and National Junior Honor Society Members. At the conclusion of Mass one student was awarded the St Francis Award. This is the highest award given at St Mary of the School. Students are selected based on the way they live their life as St Francis himself did with humility, love, gentleness, kindness, respect, fairness, faith, and forgiveness.
The recipients are as follows:
There are 4 students who will be moving on to the Regional Spelling Bee which will be held at St Francis[ of Assisi in Braintree on Thursday February 8th at 6 pm. Best of luck to these terrific spellers!
Grade 5 ~ Isabella Rwakabuba
Grade 6 ~ Adric Denis
Grade 7 ~ Joseph Salmon
Grade 8 ~ Ava Barbosa
Thank you for sharing your beautiful children with us. As always, I hope that you all have a safe and restful weekend filled with lots of family time.
