Principal's Update - 12/1/17

Dear Families,

When I woke up this morning I had a hard time believing that it was December 1st. I don't know about you but I feel that the school year is flying by! December promises to be a very busy month. Please check your email communication often and see the school calendar for some of our traditional celebrations.

This Sunday December 3rd is the beginning of the Church's liturgical year, Advent (from, "ad-venire" in Latin or "to come to") is the season encompassing the four Sundays (and weekdays) leading up to the celebration of Christmas. The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ's second coming at the end of time and also to the anniversary of the Lord's birth on Christmas. The final days of Advent, from December 17 to December 24, focus particularly on our preparation for the celebrations of the Nativity of our Lord. I will be celebrating each week of Advent with a prayer service every Monday morning in the school hall.

I cannot tell you how impressed I am with all of the academic growth that I am witnessing on a daily basis. Even the youngest of our students are becoming confident mathematicians and readers. I had the pleasure of attending a Reader's Theatre in 2nd Grade, Math classes, Science lessons, Grammar and Writing classes, and Skits in Grade 5. I even got to participate in the skits! I really enjoy when the students invite me in to see all of their accomplishments!

Thank you for respecting my requests to follow the safe drop-off and pickup routines that we have established. I know that we are not in the easiest location but if we all do our part we won't have any accidents.

I hope to see many of you tonight at Barnes and Noble in Braintree for the PTO event. Mr. Tyrrell, Mr. Faherty and I will be reading and the Drama club will be performing.

Enjoy time with your beautiful families this weekend.

Mrs. Julie Marotta
