Principal's Update - 11/3/17
As I sit and type this memo I reflect on the many blessings I have as the leader of St Mary of the Hills. We are so lucky to be a part of a learning community where everyone is accepted for who they are. I see children supporting each other daily. I also see them get into disagreements and learning to work out their differences in a peaceful way while respecting each other. It isn't always easy but the end result is rewarding. Our students are being prepared for the future not only academically but also socially. Incorporating Catholic teachings in our daily lessons helps reinforce the values that you are instilling in your children at home.
We had a fun day here on Halloween! The ECC, 1st and 2nd grade students and their parents decorated pumpkins after the students paraded in the big school. 2nd Graders catapulted pumpkins, 7th and 8th graders created chemical reactions as they launched ghosts, 5th and 6th graders wrote haunted stories, and many classrooms had small parties. I hope you saw the YouTube video that Mr. C. put together. If not it's on SMH-TV.
The 6th graders prepared a beautiful liturgy for All Saints Day! They did a wonderful job speaking and leading us in song.
This coming Thursday, November 9th at 9:30 am we will be celebrating all grandparents and veterans in our school community. Please know that all family members and special friends are invited.
Let's keep selling those Football Raffle tickets! Sales are going well but we could do better. As promised any student who sells all 10 tickets (or more) can dress down from November 13th until Thanksgiving Break. I'd be thrilled to see the entire school dressed down!!! The goal is $50,000. We can do it!
Wish me luck as I embark on the Museum of Science Camp In with Ms. Collins, the campers, and chaperones.
As always, I hope that you all have a safe and restful weekend filled with lots of family time.
Mrs. Julie Marotta
