The seventh grade class, at St. Mary of the Hills School in Milton, had the privilege of visiting Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Wednesday (Oct 13th) for a special science workshop in chemistry. As part of St. Mary's new STREAM curriculum (an extension of STEM) the school has brought a new focus to exploring unique science opportunities. The workshop was hosted by M.I.T professor, Amy Fitzgerald. The students experimented with chemical reactions and used LEGO bricks to create element compositions for this valuable hands-on learning experience. The seventh grade will be returning to MIT again in a few weeks, along with the 8th grade class who will be a part of a biology workshop.
