Dear St. Mary of the Hills Community:
I am very humbled and honored to have been appointed the new principal of St. Mary of the Hills School. I am blessed to be a part of such a strong community of faith and academic excellence, and I am looking forward to a great year filled with many opportunities for our school community to grow spiritually, academically, and socially.
I'd like to share some of my personal and educational backgrounds. I was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. I received my bachelor's degree in Education from Fresno State University, and I hold a master's degree in Special Education from Fresno Pacific University. Before moving to Boston with my husband Tim, I worked in the public school system with students in both elementary and middle school.
We have been blessed with three daughters and each one of them attended St. Mary of the Hills School. During that time my husband and I directed and coached the Odyssey of the Mind program. I have enjoyed teaching middle school history here at St. Mary's for the past eight years. To me, teaching is more than a profession, but rather a calling. My father was a principal for many years and was my inspiration and role model. I've worked with children in pre-school through 8th grade, and there is something unique and special about each age.
Our two main goals for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year are to build a school community and to address the individual academic needs of our students post-Covid. I believe wholeheartedly that every student can achieve their full academic potential and grow spiritually when the school and families work together for the best interests of our children. With that in mind, I will be calling on all of our faculty, staff, and parents to work together so we can best serve our children.
In closing, please know that my door is always open to discuss your concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make our school the best it can be. I am truly grateful to be given the opportunity to lead this amazing school and look forward to getting to know all of our students and families.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Banach
Principal
