“Everyone has the power for greatness, not for fame but greatness, because greatness is determined by service.” ~Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dear St. Mary of the Hills Family,

Winter NWEA MAP testing began this week and will continue into next week. NWEA MAP testing is an important tool that we use to direct and drive our instruction. The MAP test scores give teachers a way to focus and plan for how they use their time for addressing a student's individual needs. In addition, this assessment tool shows which academic skills and concepts your child has learned and what he/she is ready to learn

Next week, the middle school students will be taking their mid-term exams. Students have been given study guides and class time to prepare for the exams. Teachers are available before school to meet with individual students who may need help in preparation for the exams. If your student needs help, they know to reach out to their teachers and set up a day and time to come in to meet with them. We ask that students come to school on time and be prepared.

Catholic Schools Week is an annual celebration of all that a Catholic Education encompasses-- Academics, Faith and Service. There will be a week of fun events planned for our students, faculty, and parents, beginning on Monday, January 30th. To recognize our parent volunteers, there will be a Principal's coffee on Thursday, February 2nd in the main hall. Please review the Catholic Schools Week calendar with all of the details.

I wish you and your family a wonderful weekend. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, you can reach me by phone, email, or come in to see me at school.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Suzanne Banach
Principal

Dear ECC Parents:

It was another great week of learning! So many amazing things are going on within your child’s classroom. The students celebrated the letters M and N this week and participated in many winter activities. As I visited classrooms, I saw lots of science experiments going on geared to wind and water. I also observed the students having so much fun in their dramatic play areas which have been turned into hot chocolate stands and ice cream shops. The students are singing lots of winter songs and continuing to practice their sight words and writing their names.

Report cards are going home today. Please sign the envelope your child’s report card was sent home in and send it back to his/her teacher. This lets our teachers know you received your child’s report card. The students are progressing nicely, and we are so proud of all their hard work.

Catholic Schools Week is quickly approaching. A calendar will be going out to notify you of daily events. Please be sure to look at the ECC Catholic Schools Week Calendar because it is a little different than grades K-8.

As always thank you for all your help and support. The students and teachers are so lucky to have parents like you who are invested in their children's education. Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Devon Holt
Assistant Principal/Director of the ECC
