Cheerleaders

Dear St. Mary of the Hills Family,

To celebrate the third week of Advent, we gathered together as a school community to light the third candle on the Advent Wreath. The third candle represents the joy the shepherds experienced when they received the good news about Christ's birth. It is also referred to as the shepherd candle. This pink candle reflects the joy that comes through Jesus' arrival.

A student came up to me before school on Monday and asked if all of the students were going to meet together in the school cafeteria as we did for the past two weeks to talk about baby Jesus. She went on to say that it made her feel happy inside.

Joy is one of the fruits of the spirit. When we spend time with God, we experience more joy. Joy comes from God, and when we spend time with him, we allow him to fill us with Joy. Throughout the Bible, we can read scripture that refers to the Joy that is given to us by God.

“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.” ~Luke 2:10-11

Grades K-8th Christmas Concert

Students are expected to be at the church by 6:00 p.m. and should be dressed in their Sunday best. Our students have been working very hard preparing for the concert. We look forward to seeing all of our parents and guardians at the event.

Christmas Pageant

The Christmas Pageant is a St. Mary of the Hills Tradition. This year, the Christmas Pageant will be on Thursday, December 22nd at 1:00 p.m. All ECC and Kindergarten parents and guardians are invited to see this beautiful event.

CYO Basketball Team

Our CYO basketball team played an amazing game Tuesday evening against one of our biggest rivals, Trinity Catholic. Connor Finn took the last shot and scored two points in the final seconds of the game giving the Saints a thrilling 47-46 victory. The next home game will be on Saturday, December 17th at Immaculate Conception. Come join us to cheer on the team! The game starts at 3:00 p.m.

On behalf of our faculty and staff at St. Mary of the Hills School, I wish a blessed Advent Season to all of our families and friends. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, you can reach me by phone, email, or come in to see me at school.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Suzanne Banach
Principal
