Principal's Updates - 5/29/2020

Dear St. Mary of the Hills Families, What a great week! I am so impressed with the hard work of both my teachers and their students. Last night I attended the 6th Grade Virtual Poetry Jam hosted by Mrs. Norton. What an impressive group of talented young people! It was so nice to see them shine and be supported by their families. The arts are a great way for students to express their feelings and relax. Today some of the staff and I were at the school to deliver students belongings to them. This was a very surreal experience. If you could not make it today please contact the office to schedule a day and time that works for all. We have 2 weeks left (1 for Grade 8) and we have lots planned to

Principal's Updates - 5/22/2020

Dear St. Mary of the Hills Families, As we enter this Memorial Day Weekend I want to stop and ask all of you to reflect on the meaning of this very important day. I want to share a beautiful prayer by Debbie McDaniels as shared on crosswalk.com. Dear God, We thank you for the freedom you have given to us, and for the price that was paid by Christ so that we could live free. We remember today. The cost of it all. The great sacrifice for freedom. We thank you for the brave men and women who have fought, and continue to fight, so courageously for our nation. We ask for your covering and blessing over them and their families. We pray that you would be gracious and encircle them with your peace.

Principal's Updates - 5/15/2020

Dear St. Mary of the Hills Families, I pray that you all continue to be safe and healthy. I want you to know that I have been working hard to develop plans for a meaningful closure to this school year, safely reopening, and assessing students when we return next fall. I even attended a webinar with principals from Germany, Sweden, and South Korea who shared their best practices on how they safely opened their schools. I am working diligently on behalf of you and your beautiful children and I dream about the day that we are together in person again. Please consider joining me on Monday morning at 10am for my Coffee with the Principal. I'm sure you have lots of questions and although I don't h

Dear St. Mary of the Hills Families, I cannot begin to thank all of you for your support during these weeks of remote learning. It has been such a pleasure for me to witness all of the learning that is taking place every day. All of us at St Mary of the Hills appreciate you and are grateful to share this journey with you. If there is anything we could be doing better please let us know. We have 5 weeks to go (4 for the 8th graders) and we are planning to make the most of our virtual learning. Please continue to send us pictures of your children working at home. It makes us so happy to see them engaged and happy. The staff and I have met and know that there will be strong collaboration when i

Principal's Updates - 5/1/2020

Dear St. Mary of the Hills Families, As I have been saying our school building may be closed button our teachers and students are working harder than ever. I have been fortunate to attend some of the ZOOM classes and I have been so impressed with the lesson delivery and engagement. I have to keep reminding myself that this was not the way that any of us were trained and what we have taught ourselves in such a short time is nothing short of herculean. As we enter into Teacher Appreciation Week, please take a moment out of your busy days to tell the teachers how grateful you are for them. Our profession is one that we work hard at each day and are passionate about providing the best virtual e
