St. Mary of the Hills students in grades 1-3 gathered for a yearly special event. They started the afternoon with an Advent service and then continued a tradition that St. Francis of Assisi asked us to do. They remembered our woodland friends by stringing food for the animals behind our school. They were so happy to give a Christmas Party for the Animals.

Principal's Update - 12/14/18

Dear Families, We had such a busy week here at St Mary of the Hills School. Classes have been busy this advent season preparing to brighten the lives of those less fortunate by making cards, donating food, feeding the animals, and treating each other with respect. I was extremely proud of all of our talented students and staff who performed for you at the Christmas Concert. I certainly hope that spending that evening with us put you into the holiday spirit! While all of this is going on students are still learning and progressing along their academic journey. I am always so impressed with the great lessons that I observe and the high level of engagement exhibited by the students. We are so l

This presentation was created for our theme: Service. It includes excerpts from when Mrs. Vasta's niece, Sophia Gustafson, came to our school on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, to speak to the student body about her experiences serving others. It also includes our students expressing what service means to them and how they can provide service to others. It's a little over 10 1/2 minutes long. We hope that you enjoy it!

This year our school-wide theme is one of service. St. Mary of the Hills School embarked on a mission to encourage everyone (students, faculty, and staff) to embrace service to others. In connection with this theme, our own computer teacher/social media director, Mrs. Christina M. Hughes, heard about a sock drive on the TJ show, on 103.3 AMP Radio. “When I heard about your sock drive on the radio, I thought that this would be another service project that we could undertake so I put the word out to all of my colleagues and they happily participated so I was very pleased along with my mom to present 139 pairs of socks to the TJ Show (TJ, Loren Raye, and Producer Matt) for Boston Rescue Mission

Principal's Update - 12/7/18

Dear Families, Today Pope Francis tweeted the following ~ "Loving God means serving our neighbor without reserve, and trying to forgive without limits." This quote sums up what we are trying to accomplish here at St Mary of the Hills. Students, teachers, and staff are being generous with their time, talents, and financial contributions to serve those less fortunate in our communities. This being the year of mercy we are all asked to forgive each other sincerely and often. This past week I was on retreat with other principals and we were reminded that our mercy is unlimited and we should give it freely and without strings attached. At the retreat I prayed for all of you , your children, our w

Third graders in Ms. King's class took turns reading a Christmas book, "The Sparkle Box" by Jill Hardie. This story has inspired thousands of people from around the world to adopt a new Christmas tradition that transforms the Christmas season with added meaning and joy. The students at St. Mary’s have been giving their own gifts to Jesus by participating in canned good drives, making Christmas cards and baking treats for the homeless, creating cards for sick children in hospitals, collecting soda tabs for hospitals, and donating money for a well in Sudan plus much more. For our students, it’s teaching them the true meaning of Christmas!
