Principal's Update - 3/29/18

Dear Families, This week was packed with so many meaningful activities. I was privileged to witness Contraction Surgery in the 2nd grade. If you haven't seen the pictures check out our Facebook page. The students were so excited to practice making contractions through this innovative lesson. It's one that they will always remember. 3rd and 4th graders are working hard on learning their math facts through a grant we received. This grant enables the students to practice multiplication and division facts through a program called Reflex Math. I am so impressed with their accomplishments. As I type this letter to you 2 beautiful 1st Graders delivered an Easter basket to me filled with chocolates

Principa's Update - 3/23/18

Dear Families, First of all thank you for all of the support shown to me and my family during this very difficult time. The flowers you sent to the funeral home, the Mass cards, notes, and hugs really reinforced what I already knew. St Mary of the Hills School Community is by far the most nurturing and spiritual place to learn and work. I am truly blessed to be a part of this experience with all of you and your incredible children. I also need to apologize for any inconvenience that the early dismissal may have caused you this past Wednesday. Based on the weather forecasted, I thought that it would be best to make sure that all students and staff got home safely. We have many families that c

Principal's Update 3/15/18

Dear Families: I hope the snow is over! We had a very short week, but our students were still very busy in their classrooms when they were here. Please remember there is NO SCHOOL TOMORROW, FRIDAY, MARCH 16TH. Our faculty and staff will be at a retreat. I am truly grateful for all families who have reached out to me over my Mom's passing. St. Mary of the Hills is such wonderful community of caring people and I truly appreciate your kind words of support during this difficult time. It means the world to me. Thank you for sharing your beautiful children with us. As always, I hope that you all have a safe and restful weekend filled with lots of family time. Mrs. Julie Marotta Principal

Principal's Update - 3/9/18

As I walked around to debrief with the students I answered lots of questions. We talked about what lockdown drills were for and events that would warrant this type of response. I was very proud of how mature they were. On the topic of safety, I need to have you help me. The school entrances have very heavy metal doors. Often they do not close tightly. The teachers and students know enough to pull or push the doors when they enter or exit. I would appreciate you doing this as well when

Principal's Update - 3/2/18

Dear Families, I know that I told you that I was having an unannounced lock down drill the week after vacation. That did not happen as planned as my PA system went on the fritz. This is my means of communicating with the entire school at one time. Thankfully, it was replaced with an upgraded system this morning so the lock down drill will happen next week. As I stated before I do not want to scare your children but I want them to know that we are prepared to protect them in the event of an emergency. Please feel free to have a conversation about this with your children. This week was filled with so much joy and learning. I know I always say this but I am truly blessed to be the leader of thi
