St Mary of the Hills School is governed by a Board of Trustees. These individuals have backgrounds in finance, education, and fund-raising, and are passionate about Catholic education. Their role is to support the pastor and principal and to create a strategic plan and vision to ensure that St. Mary of the Hills School continues to provide a quality Catholic education to all students.
Dr. Sinnott is currently the Director of the Babson College Speech Center. She teaches Business Communication and Foundations of Management Entrepreneurship. The 2016 recipient of the Deans’ Award for Excellence in Teaching, her specialties are in public speaking, leadership communication, persuasion, conflict management, nonverbal communication, and generational differences in the workplace. Sharon is a contributing author to the communication textbook Communicating Well: A Fundamental Toolkit. Sharon is a former principal of St. Mary of the Hills School (1997-2003). For twenty five years, Sharon owned and operated Sinnott School, non-profit which provided free education to the economically disadvantaged.
Sue is the proud mother of two sons who graduated from St. Mary of the Hills, Ben ’07 and Jeremy in’ 09. She is grateful for the faith based education her sons received, giving them the foundation they needed to advance to excellent high schools and colleges. Sue is pleased to serve on the Board in support of the school’s mission to provide an affordable Catholic education to children in Milton and neighboring communities.
Sue is retired from MassDOT as Controller and continues to work there on a part time basis as a post-retiree. I volunteer for the Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts and Old Colony Elder Services, Money Management program.
Fr. Eric Bennett has been the Pastor of St. Mary of the Hills School since 2018. He grew up in East Greenwich, RI and attended Bishop Hendricken High School. He graduated from Boston University with an MSPT and went on to Gregorian University in Rome, receiving his Bachelor of Sacred Theology (S.T.B) and his Lecentiate of Sacred Theology (S.L.T) from Angelicum University. Fr. Bennett was ordained in June of 2012.
His favorite quote is from John Paul II – “It is Jesus in fact that you seek when you dream of happiness; he is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you...It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives."
Dr. Vasta presently serves as Chief Administrator for School Advancement at Xaverian Brothers High School in Westwood, MA and is an adjunct professor in the mathematics department at Dean College in Franklin, MA. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and education from Merrimack College, a Masters of Education from Bridgewater State University, and a Doctors of Education from Northeastern University. Chris has played a role at every level of school leadership, whether in the classroom as a teacher, on the field as a coach, after school as a club moderator, a campus minister, or in the administration as dean of students and the assistant principal for academics. In his current role, he leads a team of advancement professionals who build and sustain a culture of philanthropy in order to ensure that the mission of the school is appropriately funded in both the near- and long-term.
Chris lives in Medway, MA with his wife Caitlin, children Michaela, Mia, Maura, & Chris Jr., and parents John and Pam (current Saint Mary's employee).
Dr. Tyrell is a lifelong resident of Milton and has been a member of St. Mary of the Hills or Saint Elizabeth parishes since childhood. She is a graduate of St. Mary of the Hills School and Notre Dame Academy. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Boston College in elementary with a master’s degree in reading, and a certificate of advanced graduate studies in school leadership from Bridgewater State University. She received her doctorate degree in school administration and leadership from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Dr. Tyrell served in Massachusetts public schools for 40 years as a teacher (10 years at Glover School), school principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. Additionally, Dr. Tyrell was an adjunct professor teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels at Bridgewater State University. She has served on numerous international NEASC accreditation teams.
Dr. Tyrell served as a Milton Town Meeting member from precincts 2, 3, 4, and 8 for over 20 years. She serves on the corporation of the non-profit Community Boating, Boston. She is a member of the Boston College Varsity Club, the Boston College Club, and she is also a member of the Dorchester Yacht Club. Her hobbies include boating, skiing, painting, gardening, and reading. She is happily retired and lives in Milton with her husband, Judge Robert Kelly (retired).
